Our visit to the 3rd Grade
I found that our trip to the third grade was an excellent learning experience. My understanding of the dropping of the bomb has greatly improved. This project forced us to interact and learn from another class, as well as research and teach them something that we learned ourselves. I feel that this is vital if we are to look at things from a different perspective. The story of Sadako was well placed, it dealt with the humanitarian results after the bomb took place. I think that this story was necessary to have because it took people's minds off the political aspect of dropping the bomb. I also think that interacting with the 3rd grades also generated a sense of peace. I was very surprised that two bombings that occurred 50 years ago still have an impact on society today, those bombings introduced the idea of nuclear power and we are still dealing with those problems today. I think that if more people become aware of the dangers of nuclear power it will become more likely that governments will dismantle their weapons.

Peace Quotes

"Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free." -Dalai Lama

"Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are." -Hafsat Abiola

"We know how to organize warfare, but do we know how to act when confronted with peace?"-Jacques-Yves Cousteau

"Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."-Albert Einstein

"We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace."-William Gladstone
